Tabourie Memories – through the camera lens
Tabourie Memories: Geoff Gulson built his house on the lake in 1953. Cottages originally owned and built by Jack and Glad Turner. Dot and Fred Coller built the white house next to Gillies. The Gulsons and the Collers used to holiday at the cottages at the same time.
During the flood they used to fish from the veranda of the cottages.
Used to shoot the shags out of the trees as they took the fish. Then shot wild pigs which were prevalent in Tabourie then. Holes were dug next to the dead pig and the body rolled into it, then filled in.
No rubbish collection and people dug pits to bury the rubbish.
The cottage on the hill are “Illagong”. The Peadon family used to rent that one (Marie Peadon also has a holiday house on the lake, a few doors down from Geoff’s).

Geoff Gulson has provided some 40 photos for the Tabourie Memories project and includes Fishing, swimming, the Lake, and the stages of his 1953 house build – see full album of photos on the Tabourie Memories Facebook Page
