Trooper Leslie Charles Gumley

Son of Oliver Franklin and Susan Gumley nee Hewitt was born at Milton in 1893. He enlisted in the war in Aug 1914 at Lismore. He sailed for Egypt in Sep 1914.

Trooper 513 Leslie Charles Gumley served with the 2nd Light Horse at Gallipoli in May 1915 as part of the Mediterranean Expedition Force for three months.

He was later injured with a gun shoot wound to the knee and thus returned to Australia in May 1916.

Relisting in Jan 1918 serving with the Australian Flying Corp (3544 AFC), he returned to Australia in Sep 1919.

His name is listed on the Milton Public School and Milton Congregational Church Honour Rolls.

Leslie Gumley also served in WW2, his brother Norman Gumley also served in WW1.
