Australia Day Award 2027 nominations now open

Nominations are now open for the Shoalhaven Australia Day Award 2027, with prizes available for both recipients and nominators.

Community members are encouraged to consider individuals who have made significant contributions over the past year; nominators will be entered into a draw for a $500 Holiday Haven tourist park voucher.

Acting Mayor Peter Wilkins said the Australia Day Awards shine a light on the people whose dedication and community spirit help make the Shoalhaven a great place to live.

“Across the Shoalhaven there are people quietly making a difference every day, whether they’re volunteering, achieving great things in sport or helping to strengthen our community,” Cr Wilkins said.

“The Australia Day Awards are an opportunity to celebrate the people whose efforts enrich our community and make us proud to call the Shoalhaven home.

“If someone has inspired you or made a positive impact over the past year, I encourage you to take a few minutes to nominate them,” he said.

The program provides an opportunity for residents to acknowledge friends, family, colleagues, teammates or volunteers who merit recognition.

There are four categories for nominations and include:

Citizen of the Year: Recognises a citizen 25 years and over who has demonstrated an outstanding achievement for the Shoalhaven community.

Young Citizen of the Year: Recognises a young citizen from 12 to 24 years of age who has demonstrated an outstanding achievement for the Shoalhaven community.

Volunteer of the Year: Recognises a volunteer 12 years and over who has had significant involvement in a voluntary capacity in the Shoalhaven community.

Sports Achiever of the Year: Recognises a committed sportsperson (athlete, coach, manager, mentor, volunteer or official) 12 years and over who has demonstrated an outstanding sports achievement in the Shoalhaven community.
