When will the Ulladulla Boat Ramp be open

“This milestone represents a significant step toward improving one of the South Coast’s most valued community assets and enhancing its functionality for residents and visitors before the busy Christmas season”, South Coast Member Liza Butler said

“The repairs and upgrade will begin with the delivery of heavy equipment, including excavators and power packs, as well as fencing panels for the laydown area. Transport for NSW Maritime has confirmed that site setup will be completed early next week, and the full scope of works is expected to be finalised within 10 days.

5 Dec 2024: Transport NSW will be undertaking repairs of both the east and west sides of the Ulladulla Harbour south boat ramp; the dates are from Monday 9 Dec to approx. 17 Dec;  and thus will be closed for repairs. The Ulladulla Community thank Mayor Patricia White, Ward 3 Cr Karlee Dunn and Ward 1 Cr Selena Clancy for their efforts. A special mention for the South Coast member Liza Butler who has arranged for the Ulladulla Boat ramp to be completely operational before the Christmas Break and upcoming holiday season. And a thank you also to the Ulladulla Game Fishing Club for their involvement in campaigning to arrange the long awaited repairs to the boat ramp for all.

….. and still on 27 Nov 2024; the boat ramp debacle continues. Shoalhaven City Services at the general council meeting on 26 Nov still are confused between the east and west side of the ramp. Also at this council meeting there was no mentioned of the proposed establishment a 355 committee or a community led project for professional temporary repairs of the boat ramp.  There was mention of the NSW Department of Transport inspecting the ramp in maybe the upcoming week.

Questions have also now been raised about what happened with the planned maintenance of the boat ramp  by Shoalhaven City Council back in Aug 2022.  There must be so many reports-reviews on the ramp are out since 2022.

On Tuesday 12 Nov 2024 Shoalhaven City Mayor Patricia White, took steps to re-open the complete Ulladulla Boat Ramp with the removal of the existing eastern side barricades. At the council meeting on 12 Nov there was confusion added by Director of City Services Carey McIntyre was said if the western side of the ramp is re-opened , also commented was that half the ramp could be opened. …. Council maybe could open one side (hold on this mislead many Councillors who were not fully aware of the situation of the Ulladulla Boat Ramp which the eastern side which was closed by Council in March 2024 … and the western side of the ramp is not even closed). However the matter was deferred for another two weeks, with undertaking of further investigation in relation to the Ulladulla boat ramp eastern side, and concurrently establish a 355 committee or a community led project for professional temporary repairs of the boat ramp, and to install safety signs on the western side of the boat ramp. This week there has also been confusion with Ward 3 councillor Natalee Johnston meeting with professional and recreational fisherman at the ramp to inspect and discuss the ongoing situation.  Over the last few years over $1M State and Federal grant monies for Ulladulla harbour improvements and development has been returned by Council.

On Sunday 10 Nov 2024; a public meeting was held at the Ulladulla Boat Ramp (Southside) to discuss the dissatisfaction of the handling of east side ramp closure and none use of available funding. The meeting was attended by over 80 professional and recreational fisherman including members of the Ulladulla Game Fishing Club. Also in attendance were some councillors for all Council Wards. Speakers included Member for South Coast Liza Butler . Mayor Patricia White, Ulladulla Game Fishing Club and some of the Fishermen.

Mayor Patricia White announced the collation of  a new modern day Ulladulla Harbour Development Plan. In addition to the steps she will be introduced to re-open the complete Ulladulla Boat Ramp with the removal of the existing eastern side barricades at the Council meeting on Tuesday 12 November.
