Australia Day Award 2026 nominations now open

Nominations are now open for the Shoalhaven Australia Day Award 2026, with prizes available for both recipients and nominators. Community members are encouraged to consider individuals who have made significant contributions over the past year; nominators will be entered into a draw for a $500 Holiday Haven tourist park voucher.

Mayor Patricia White stated that the Australia Day Awards recognise individuals who play a positive role in the Shoalhaven community. Cr White noted that these awards highlight those whose efforts benefit others and contribute to the local area.

The program provides an opportunity for residents to acknowledge friends, family, colleagues, teammates or volunteers who merit recognition.

There are four categories for nominations and include:

Citizen of the Year: Recognises a citizen 25 years and over who has demonstrated an outstanding achievement for the Shoalhaven community.

Young Citizen of the Year: Recognises a young citizen from 12 to 24 years of age who has demonstrated an outstanding achievement for the Shoalhaven community.

Volunteer of the Year: Recognises a volunteer 12 years and over who has had significant involvement in a voluntary capacity in the Shoalhaven community.

Sports Achiever of the Year: Recognises a committed sportsperson (athlete, coach, manager, mentor, volunteer or official) 12 years and over who has demonstrated an outstanding sports achievement in the Shoalhaven community.
